20 collective hours on the road, 4 different flights, and something less than our average amount of sleep has been our lives for the past two weeks. Sweet, a little bit chaotic, and full might be some good words to describe our state of being lately. But, this Saturday, decked out in our regular wedding attire, we headed to meet Trei + Micaela over their family-tradition waffle breakfast and pre-wedding prep. We talked about how we just wanted to enter into their day and tell their story, because we knew there were some sweet things to capture! Little did we know how easy they would make it to enter into their day and enjoy the process.
The day started out with a waffle breakfast which has been a long time Christenson family tradition. Micaela was surrounded by the sweetest sisters, amazing friends, and adoring nieces- all ready to celebrate her. There were cute baby appearances, an abundance of supportive and loving family, and so many behind the scenes people who made the day come together perfectly. But overall, the impression from Trei + Micaela’s day was just how incredibly contentedly happy they both were. Each of our couple’s is so different from the next, and we loved seeing Trei + Micaela enjoy their day with tears in their eyes, smiles on their faces, and a peace that we had not seen in any of our previous weddings. They didn’t sweat the big or little stuff, but did break a sweat doing push ups together on the wedding day. Just another one of their awesome “things” that make them, them.
The day concluded with a kazoo send off which was just perfect to the specific flavor of the day and left us driving away from the wedding laughing with joy. Despite the little bit of craziness that our lives have been lately, when we look through these photos, we are completely struck with humility at the incredible honor of getting to tell Trei + Micaela’s story with our cameras as they celebrated their first day as husband and wife.
