I grew up walking into my grandmother’s kitchen and reading this quote and another that had “ewe’s not fat, ewe’s just fluffy” written on a little wooden sheep. One quote made me laugh, the other shaped my view of friendship.
I always loved the comparison of friends to flowers; there are thousands of different types of flowers and there are thousands of different types of people. In my life, I have had the opportunity to “pick” from the best “bouquets” of people to become friends with. I seriously cannot emphasize or even put into words how full and blessed my life has been through so many seasons with truly incredible friends. There is something inherent in my womanhood that makes me smile at a bouquet of flowers, and there is something inherent in my soul that makes my heart full when I am with my friends.
So today, I combined the two things and hosted a Flower Arranging Workshop with some friends! Throwing together a gorgeous bouquet effortlessly is always something I’ve wanted to be able to do, but instead it has always been frustrating and disappointing. My wonderful friend Patricia, who has more talents than I could count on two hands, came and taught us all how to intentionally put together a bouquet and make it look effortless. She focused on natural, homey looking bouquets which resonates with her home and with my heart. It was a beautiful time- and in the truest sense of the world. See for yourself. 🙂
